How resume translation works in AutoApplyMax
- Upload your resume once, in any language (PDF or Word). It becomes your profile.
- Open the AI resume generator and either paste a job posting written in the language you need, or type an instruction such as "my resume in Spanish" or "finance resume in French".
- Generate. The AI writes the whole resume in that language: summary, job titles, bullets, skills and degree names. Section headings switch to the same language, and month names in your dates follow it.
- Check and edit in the inline editor (AI rewrites of single bullets are free), then download as PDF or Word.
The output language follows the job: a posting in Spanish gives a Spanish resume, even if your profile is in English. A language mentioned inside a posting as a requirement ("fluent English required") is read as a requirement, not as an instruction to change the resume's language.
What is translated, and what stays exactly as you wrote it
| Translated and adapted to the job | Kept from your resume |
|---|---|
| Professional summary | Employer names and locations |
| Job titles (same level: an intern stays an intern) | Start and end dates (only month names change language) |
| Bullet points | Numbers, percentages and amounts |
| Skills and degree names | Your name, contact details and schools |
| Section headings | English tech terms such as "front-end" or "back-end" |
The same guards as the English generator apply: no invented employers, tools, degrees or figures, and no promotion of a job title in translation.
Languages
The generator writes resumes in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and Russian. The most common moves on AutoApplyMax are between English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Whatever the pair, read the result before you send it, and ask a native speaker to check it when you can: an AI translation is a strong first draft, not a proofread document.
Translation vs localization: adapt the format too
A translated resume can still look foreign if it ignores local conventions. The generator handles the language; these choices are yours:
| Market | Photo | Usual length | Personal details |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States, Canada | No | 1 page, 2 for long careers | No date of birth, marital status or nationality |
| United Kingdom | No | 2 pages ("CV") | No date of birth or photo |
| France | Optional, still common | 1 page early career, 2 later | Age and nationality optional |
| Spain, Portugal, Latin America | Optional, often included | 1-2 pages | Varies by employer |
| Germany | Optional | 1-2 pages ("Lebenslauf") | Often more detail than in the US |
Templates with a photo slot are available in the generator when the market expects one. For the US and Canada, pick a template without a photo; our Canadian vs US resume format guide covers the details.
Job titles and degrees: translate the meaning, not the words
Degrees often have no exact equivalent. A French "BTS" or a Spanish "Grado" is translated by field and level; when a recruiter abroad may not know the diploma, keep the original name and add the field ("BTS in Computer Science, 2-year degree"). Edit the line in the editor if the AI's choice does not fit.
Certified translations
Employers do not ask for a certified translation of a resume. Immigration offices, licensing boards and universities often do for diplomas, transcripts and official records. AutoApplyMax is not a certified translation service: use a sworn or certified translator for those documents.
Cost
Each generated resume uses 1 AI credit, whatever the language. The free plan includes 1 AI credit a month; Premium is $6.99/month for 30 credits (see pricing). Editing a resume, including AI rewrites of single bullets, does not use credits.

Frequently asked questions
Can AutoApplyMax translate my resume?
Yes. In the AI resume generator, paste a job posting written in another language, or type an instruction such as "my resume in Spanish". The AI writes the whole resume in that language from your uploaded resume: summary, job titles, bullets, skills and degree names. Dates, employers and figures come from your own resume.
Which languages are supported?
English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and Russian. Section headings switch to the chosen language. Read the result before you send it, especially in a language you do not speak well.
Is it a word-for-word translation?
No. It is a tailored rewrite in the new language: the AI adapts the wording to the job posting, the way the English generator does. Facts stay the same; phrasing does not follow your original sentence by sentence.
Is it a certified translation?
No. Employers do not ask for a certified translation of a resume, but immigration offices and universities often require certified translations of diplomas, transcripts and other official documents. Use a certified translator for those.
How much does it cost?
Each generated resume uses 1 AI credit, in any language. The free plan includes 1 AI credit a month; Premium is $6.99/month for 30 credits. Editing the result, including AI rewrites of single bullets, does not use credits.
