Marketing Manager Resume Examples: Entry Level, Mid Level and Senior

Marketing managers are hired to produce results someone else can count: pipeline, revenue, signups, retained customers or brand reach in the right audience. A strong resume shows which channels you ran, how much budget you controlled, what you tested and what moved. The samples below follow a marketing coordinator moving up, a B2B demand generation manager and a senior marketing leader running a team and a multi-million dollar budget. The writing advice explains how to choose metrics that hold up in an interview, how to show campaigns without listing every one, and which compliance rules differ between the US and Canada.

How to write each section of a marketing manager resume

Header and portfolio

Include LinkedIn and, where it helps, a portfolio link with campaign examples: landing pages, ads, emails, a brand refresh. Brand, content and creative-leaning marketers benefit most from a portfolio. Remove anything confidential or still under embargo.

If you work in English and French, say so near the top. In Canada it is often a deciding factor, and recruiters for national brands look for it before reading anything else.

Summary

Say whether you are B2B or B2C, which industry, which channels you own and how big your budget or team is. Demand generation, brand, product marketing, lifecycle and growth are different specialties, and hiring managers look for the one they need.

Close with your measurement focus: pipeline and CAC for B2B, revenue, ROAS and retention for e-commerce, bookings or enrollments for services.

Experience

For each role, state the budget, channels and team, then write bullets that connect a decision to a measured outcome. Choose metrics you could explain in detail: how pipeline was attributed, what time period, what baseline. Interviewers often probe marketing numbers.

Group small campaigns into one bullet with a count and a combined result. Reserve separate bullets for launches, repositionings, new programs and budget shifts.

Skills and tools

List the platforms you actually operate: marketing automation (HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot), CRM (Salesforce), ad platforms, analytics (Google Analytics, Looker Studio) and content tools. Many postings filter on one specific automation platform.

Add analytical skills like A/B testing and attribution, and soft skills only when your bullets prove them. Avoid vague items like creativity on their own; show creative work through a campaign result or a portfolio piece instead.

Education and certifications

Marketing, communications, journalism and business degrees are common, but results matter more than the field of study. An MBA can help for director roles in larger companies, especially in consumer packaged goods.

Platform certifications from Google, HubSpot or Meta show tool fluency and are most useful early in your career. Senior marketers can drop them in favor of more results, unless a posting asks for them.

Marketing Manager resume summary examples

Entry-level objective: Marketing graduate seeking a coordinator role on a B2B or consumer team. Brings an internship running bilingual social campaigns and in-store events, HubSpot and Google Analytics certifications and a student go-to-market plan that drew 40 real sign-ups.

It gives one result from each experience, which makes a short history look capable rather than thin.

New-grad summary: Marketing coordinator running email, webinar and LinkedIn programs for a B2B software company in English and French. Measures every campaign against leads and pipeline, and handles HubSpot builds, landing pages and CASL-compliant consent end to end.

It reads as someone already accountable for results, with tools and compliance knowledge stated plainly.

Mid-level summary: Demand generation manager with six years in B2B SaaS, owning a $1.4 million budget across paid, content, ABM and lifecycle. Grew marketing-sourced pipeline year over year while managing two specialists and an agency, with lead quality agreed with sales.

Budget, channels, team and the pipeline outcome answer a B2B hiring manager's first questions.

Senior summary: Marketing director with 14 years across consumer and healthcare brands, leading nine people and a $6 million budget. Turns customer research into positioning, shifts spend toward channels that drive revenue and builds teams of strong channel owners.

It shows leadership scale and a strategic approach, with research and revenue as the anchors.

US vs Canada: marketing manager resumes and pay

United States

US marketing managers work under CAN-SPAM for email, FTC rules on endorsements and advertising claims, and a growing set of state privacy laws such as California's CCPA as amended by the CPRA. Mentioning privacy-safe tracking or consent work is useful for consumer and healthcare roles, where HIPAA limits how patient data can be used in advertising. Use US spelling and dollar figures, and expect B2B roles to ask about pipeline and CAC. No photo or personal details.

BLS occupation10th pct.Median90th pct.
Marketing Managers (SOC 11-2021)$90,260$166,790$293,610

Annual wages, US national, BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, May 2025.

Canada

Canadian marketers must follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which requires consent for commercial electronic messages and is stricter than US email rules, so CASL experience is worth naming. Quebec's Charter of the French Language requires French in commercial materials, and Law 25 adds privacy obligations, so French copywriting skills are a strong asset. The Competition Act governs misleading advertising. Budgets are often smaller than at US counterparts, so express scale in channels and results, not only spend. Mention bilingual ability clearly.

Job Bank occupationLowMedianHigh

FAQ

Which metrics should a marketing manager put on a resume?

Use the metrics your employer used to judge marketing: pipeline and customer acquisition cost in B2B, revenue and ROAS in e-commerce, bookings or enrollments in services. Add budget size for context. Avoid vanity numbers like impressions unless brand awareness was the stated goal.

How do I show results if attribution was messy?

Describe the measurement plainly, such as marketing-sourced pipeline in Salesforce or bookings from tracked campaigns, and use approximate figures you can defend. You can also report a before and after trend. Honest framing is better than precise numbers you cannot explain.

Should a marketing resume be creative or plain?

For most marketing manager roles, a clean, readable layout works best, since many go through applicant tracking systems. Put creativity into a portfolio link. Designers and brand roles may use more visual resumes, but keep text selectable and sections clearly labeled.

How do I move from coordinator to marketing manager?

Show programs you ran yourself, with budgets and outcomes, and any people or vendors you directed. Highlight decisions such as pausing campaigns or shifting spend. Your summary should name the manager-level channel or program you want to own.

Do I need bilingual skills for marketing roles in Canada?

Not for every role, but French is often required in Quebec and for national brands that market in both languages. If you can write marketing copy in French, state it clearly with examples. It can be the deciding factor between similar candidates.
