Healthcare Resume Examples & Templates for 2026

A clinical resume is screened for safety before it is screened for talent. Nurse managers, pharmacy directors and clinic supervisors confirm that your license is active where they hire, that your certifications are current, and that the settings you have worked in match the patients on their floor. Only then do they read for judgment, teamwork and the way you treat families.

This hub gathers complete sample resumes for nursing, advanced practice, pharmacy, rehabilitation and clinic support roles. Each role page walks through a new graduate, an experienced clinician and a lead or specialist version of the same job, then explains how to present licensure, rotations, charting systems and the credentials that hospitals and clinics in the United States and Canada ask for.

How to build a healthcare resume that clears credential checks

Put licensure where nobody has to hunt for it

Create a Licenses and Certifications section near the top of the page, directly under your summary. For each license give the exact title, the issuing body and the state or province, for example RN, Texas Board of Nursing, or Registered Nurse, College of Nurses of Ontario. Add the expiry month if it is coming up soon.

You do not need to print a license number on a resume that may be forwarded or uploaded to many portals. Employers verify it through the board's public lookup during onboarding, so writing "license number available on request" or simply listing the jurisdiction is enough. If you hold a multistate compact license in the US, say so, because travel and telehealth employers search for it.

Describe your unit, setting and patient population

Clinical titles hide a lot of variety. A staff nurse on a medical-surgical floor and a staff nurse in a trauma ICU share a title and very little else. Under each role, name the setting (acute care hospital, outpatient clinic, long-term care, home health, retail pharmacy, sports rehab), the specialty, the acuity and the kind of patients you saw. If you know your typical ratio or caseload, state it plainly in words or with your own real figure.

Name the charting systems and clinical tools

Electronic health records are a real hiring factor because training a clinician on a new system takes time. If you have used Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), Meditech, PointClickCare, athenahealth or a pharmacy platform such as Kroll or PioneerRx, list it in your skills section and mention it once in the matching job. The same applies to infusion pumps, Pyxis or Omnicell dispensing cabinets, telemetry monitoring and scheduling or billing software in clinics.

New graduates: treat clinical rotations as experience

If you are finishing a BSN, BScN, PharmD, DPT or medical assisting program, your rotations are the strongest material you have. Give each placement its own short entry with the facility type, unit, length in hours or weeks, and two bullets about what you did under supervision: assessments, medication passes, patient teaching, documentation, discharge planning. Mention a capstone, preceptorship or consolidation placement first, since it is closest to independent practice. Add your exam status honestly, such as NCLEX-RN passed or scheduled for a stated month.

Certifications, privacy and US versus Canada details

List life-support and specialty credentials with the issuer and expiry: BLS, ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, plus specialty boards such as CCRN, CEN, board certification for nurse practitioners, or CMA and RMA for medical assistants. Leave out lapsed cards unless you are renewing them.

In both countries, a clinical resume should not include a photo, date of birth, marital status or health details. Canadian applicants can use the spelling résumé and should name the provincial regulator, since nursing and pharmacy are licensed province by province. Never include patient names or identifiable cases in your bullets; describe the situation in general terms.

Match each posting without overstating your scope

Hospital postings are specific about unit, shift and required credentials, so adjust your summary and the order of your bullets for each one. Keep the language within your legal scope of practice: a medical assistant supports a provider, a nurse practitioner diagnoses and prescribes. The AutoApplyMax builder reworks your existing resume around a job description you paste in, and the free ATS checker points out posting keywords that your current version does not mention.

FAQ

Should I put my nursing license number on my resume?

It is not necessary and usually safer to leave it off, because resumes are copied into many systems. List the license type, the issuing board and the state or province instead. Employers confirm the number through the official board lookup when they make an offer, and you can provide it on the application form if a field asks for it.

How do I list clinical rotations on a new graduate healthcare resume?

Create a Clinical Experience section above any non-clinical jobs. Give each rotation the facility type, unit, dates or total hours, and one or two bullets describing the care you delivered under supervision. Put your final preceptorship or consolidation placement first, because it shows the closest thing to independent practice and the highest patient load you have handled.

Which certifications should a healthcare resume include?

Include every current credential the posting asks for, and the standard life-support cards for your role, typically BLS and often ACLS or PALS. Add specialty certifications such as CCRN, CEN, a nurse practitioner board certification, or CMA for medical assistants. Write the full name, the issuing organization and the expiry date so a recruiter can check it quickly.

Is a healthcare resume different in Canada than in the US?

The structure is the same, but licensing is provincial in Canada, so name the provincial college that registered you, such as the College of Nurses of Ontario or the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Canadian degrees like the BScN may need a short explanation for US employers. Neither country expects a photo, age or marital status on the page.

Are these healthcare resume examples free to use?

Yes. Every sample can be read and adapted without charge, and the clinicians, hospitals and schools shown are fictional. Replace each detail with your own licenses, units and dates before sending anything. If you want your resume rebuilt in one of these layouts, upload it to the AutoApplyMax builder and paste the posting you are targeting.
