Frontend Developer Resume Template (Harvard): Entry level Example
Malik Okonkwo, Frontend Developer (Contract) ATS-friendly
Malik has no computer science degree, so the contract role sits on top and every bullet names a concrete screen he shipped plus the testing he did. His warehouse years stay because they explain why a freight startup trusted him with dispatch tools. The open-source transit board proves he handles loading, error and offline states, which junior portfolios often skip.

Summary
Junior frontend developer, self-taught over two years, with a contract role building React interfaces for a small logistics startup. Writes typed components in TypeScript, tests them with React Testing Library and checks every screen with a keyboard and VoiceOver. Former warehouse lead who understands the dispatch tools he now builds.
Experience
Frontend Developer (Contract), Peachline Freight · Atlanta, GA · Feb 2025 — Present
- Built the driver check-in screen in React and TypeScript from a Figma file, replacing a paper sign-in sheet at two loading docks.
- Converted a cluttered dispatch table into sortable, filterable columns with sticky headers, so dispatchers find a truck without scrolling through every row.
- Added visible focus states, labelled form controls and live region announcements after testing the app with VoiceOver and keyboard only.
- Wrote component tests with React Testing Library for the check-in flow and set them to run on every pull request in GitHub Actions.
Warehouse Shift Lead, Southern Crescent Distribution · Atlanta, GA · May 2020 — Jan 2025
- Supervised a night crew of 14 and reported recurring problems with the scanning software, which first led to learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Created a shared spreadsheet dashboard for dock assignments that the day shift adopted, cutting handover confusion between crews.

Frontend Developer Resume Template (Modern): Mid level Example
Priya Ramanathan, Frontend Engineer II ATS-friendly
Priya's bullets read like a frontend engineer's changelog: virtualization, server-state migration, an accessible data grid and a measured interaction metric. Each one explains the user problem first, so a non-specialist recruiter still follows it. The ticketing role adds visual and mobile depth, and the Storybook bullet signals she already thinks about shared components before a senior title.

Frontend Developer Resume Template (Consulting): Senior Example
Geneviève Tremblay-Nakamura, Staff Frontend Developer, Design System ATS-friendly
Geneviève's resume is about leverage across teams rather than features she typed. Adoption by nine squads, a closed audit backlog, a versioning policy with codemods and a coaching guild all show staff-level scope. Her earlier storefront role proves hands-on architecture work, and bilingual localization is a practical advantage for employers serving Quebec.

Free frontend developer resume templates: the same resume in 3 more designs
Priya Ramanathan's mid-level resume again, in the European, Compact and Creative templates of the builder. European stays single-column; Compact and Creative put skills and education in a sidebar, which reads well to a person but can be parsed out of order by older applicant tracking systems, so keep them for referrals and emails to a hiring manager.
Downloads are free and need no account. The PDF keeps the exact design with selectable text; the Word file (.docx) is an editable single-column version in the same fonts and colors. Compare all six designs on our resume templates page.

How to write each section of a frontend developer resume
Header and live links
Put your city, email, phone, GitHub and a portfolio or demo link at the top. Frontend reviewers often click before they read, so link a deployed app with a short README that explains your role, the stack and anything you would improve.
If your best work sits behind a company login, link a public Storybook, a recorded walkthrough or a personal project that recreates a similar interaction. Make sure every link loads quickly on a phone and has no console errors.
Summary
Open with your years of frontend experience, your main framework and the kind of product you build, such as dashboards, consumer apps, ecommerce or internal tools. Then name one or two strengths that set you apart, like accessibility, performance tuning, data visualization or design system work.
Avoid generic phrases like passionate about pixels. A specific line about the interfaces you own tells a hiring manager more in less space.
Experience
Each bullet should describe a screen, component or system you built, the technique you used and what improved for users or teammates. Good outcomes for frontend work include smoother interactions, better Core Web Vitals, fewer support tickets, accessible flows and faster delivery by other squads.
Mention collaboration with designers and backend engineers where it shaped the result, for example negotiating an API shape or adjusting a layout for keyboard users. Keep framework names inside the bullets so the stack appears in context.
Skills
Group skills into languages and frameworks, styling and design tooling, testing, and build or delivery tools. Put the framework from the posting first and include the state and data libraries you actually use, such as Redux, Zustand or TanStack Query.
List accessibility and performance as skills only if your bullets back them up. Interviewers commonly ask you to fix a broken component or explain a rendering bug live.
Education, projects and certificates
Frontend developers come from computer science degrees, college diplomas, bootcamps and self-teaching. Keep education short once you have professional experience, and add a projects section when you are early in your career.
Strong projects show real-world states: loading, empty, error and offline screens, responsive layouts and tests. Certificates help most when paired with code, and an accessibility credential is a genuine differentiator for public sector and enterprise employers.
Frontend Developer resume summary examples
Entry-level objective: Self-taught frontend developer seeking a junior role on a product team that values accessibility. Brings a year of contract React and TypeScript work for a freight startup, a tested open-source project and a habit of checking every screen with a keyboard and screen reader.
It names the team type he wants and backs it with shipped, testable work instead of course titles.
New-grad summary: Computer science graduate with a co-op term on a React dashboard team, where I built chart components, wrote Testing Library specs and fixed colour contrast issues flagged in an audit. Comfortable with TypeScript, Vite, Git workflows and reading API contracts with backend engineers.
A co-op with named components and a fixed audit issue reads stronger than a list of classes.
Mid-level summary: Frontend engineer with six years in React and TypeScript, currently owning the scheduling interface of a workforce SaaS product. Strongest in complex form state, data-heavy grids and interaction performance, with accessibility built into every feature rather than added at the end.
It narrows six years into a clear specialty that matches what SaaS teams screen for.
Senior summary: Staff frontend developer with 12 years of experience who leads a design system used by nine product squads. Sets component API standards, accessibility rules and release tooling, mentors a cross-team guild, and has migrated large storefronts to independently deployed micro-frontends.
Adoption, standards and migrations show influence beyond a single codebase, which staff roles demand.
Frontend Developer resume bullet examples: weak vs strong
The strong versions use made-up figures for a fictional candidate. Replace them with your own real numbers, or describe the scope (team size, volume, frequency) if you have none.
Names the component, its hard parts and the consistency problem it solved.
A named metric, the technique and a measurement source make the claim believable.
Shows you know the actual ARIA patterns and who benefits from them.
Explains why the refactor mattered instead of just naming libraries.
Adoption and upgrade tooling prove the library is used, not just published.
Covers both behaviour and visual regressions, the two failure types frontend teams fear.
Ties an architectural choice to team autonomy, a clear organizational outcome.
Shows engineering depth behind translation, which goes well beyond swapping strings.

Skills for a frontend developer resume
Languages and frameworks
- TypeScript
- JavaScript
- React
- Next.js
- Vue
- Angular
- Svelte
Lead with the framework the posting names and show depth in one rather than a shallow list.
Styling and UI
- Semantic HTML
- Modern CSS
- Tailwind CSS
- CSS Modules
- Design tokens
- Storybook
- Figma
Strong CSS and semantic markup still separate solid frontend developers from framework-only coders.
Data and state
- TanStack Query
- Redux Toolkit
- Zustand
- GraphQL clients
- REST integration
- WebSockets
Say how you keep server state and UI state apart; interviewers probe this.
Quality and delivery
- Jest or Vitest
- Testing Library
- Playwright
- Axe
- Lighthouse and RUM
- Vite
- CI pipelines
Prove these with bullets about regressions caught or metrics improved.
Soft skills, and how to prove them
- Design partnership: Describe a time you pushed back on a layout for accessibility or performance and reached a better version together with the designer.
- Product judgment: Mention a feature where you suggested a simpler interaction that shipped sooner and still solved the user problem.
- Clear technical writing: Point to component docs, a migration guide or a pull request template that other engineers now follow.
- Mentoring: Show how you helped a teammate grow, for example by pairing on their first accessible form or reviewing their first Storybook story.
- Ownership in production: Give an example of watching error tracking after a release, spotting a browser-specific bug and shipping a fix the same day.
Certifications and licenses
- Meta Front-End Developer Professional Certificate (Meta (offered on Coursera)): Covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React; most useful for career changers who pair it with deployed projects.
- Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) (International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP)): A respected technical accessibility credential that signals you can audit and fix complex widgets.
- Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) (International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP)): A broader accessibility foundation credential, useful for frontend leads who set team standards.

US vs Canada: frontend developer resumes and pay
United States
In the US, frontend developer and frontend engineer are both unregulated titles, so pick whichever matches the posting. Accessibility carries legal weight because web accessibility lawsuits are filed under the ADA and federal agencies follow Section 508, which makes WCAG work worth highlighting. Many startups hire frontend contractors on 1099 or W-2 terms, and some government or defense projects require citizenship or a clearance. Link a portfolio, keep the resume to one or two pages, and leave out photos, birth dates and marital status.
| BLS occupation | 10th pct. | Median | 90th pct. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web Developers (SOC 15-1254) closest BLS category | $48,100 | $92,650 | $162,290 |
Annual wages, US national, BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, May 2025.
Canada
In Canada, use developer rather than engineer in your headline unless you hold a professional engineering licence, since engineer is a protected title in most provinces. Accessibility rules matter here too: Ontario's AODA requires many organizations to meet WCAG 2.0 AA, and the Accessible Canada Act covers federally regulated employers. Interfaces serving Quebec must be available in French under the Charter of the French Language, so bilingual UI and localization experience is a real asset. State your work permit status if you need sponsorship.
| Job Bank occupation | Low | Median | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front-end Developer (NOC 21234) | $21.48/h | $38.46/h | $57.16/h |

FAQ
What is the best resume template for a frontend developer?
For online applications, use a single-column template that applicant tracking systems read top to bottom. The frontend developer samples on this page come in four of them: Harvard (shown with the entry-level resume, education can sit first), Modern (mid-level, experience first, a safe default for most employers), Consulting (senior, achievements in bold stand out to the recruiter) and European (fits a long career on one page). Compact and Creative use two columns: they read well to a person, but some older ATS parse them out of order, so keep them for referrals and emails to a hiring manager.
Should a frontend developer resume be one page?
Usually, yes. In the US, one page is the norm for a frontend developer with less than about 10 years of experience, and all six samples on this page fit on one page. A senior frontend developer with a long, relevant track record can use two pages, as long as page one carries the most recent and relevant roles. Canadian employers accept two pages more readily than US ones.
What is the difference between a frontend developer and a web developer resume?
A frontend developer resume focuses on application interfaces: component architecture, state management, testing and performance inside a product team. Web developer resumes more often feature marketing sites, CMS platforms and client launches. If you build product UI in React or Vue, call yourself frontend and lead with interaction-heavy features.
Should I include a portfolio if I already have work experience?
Yes. A deployed project, public Storybook or recorded demo lets reviewers judge your UI quality in a minute. Experienced developers can keep it small: one or two polished pieces with a README explaining decisions. Make sure it works on mobile and passes a quick accessibility check.
How do I show performance work without exact numbers?
Name the metric you targeted, such as largest contentful paint or interaction to next paint, the technique you used and how you measured it, for example real-user monitoring or Lighthouse in CI. A clear before-and-after description is credible even if the exact figures are confidential.
Do frontend developers need to know backend technologies?
Not deeply, but knowing how APIs, authentication and caching work helps you build better interfaces and talk with backend teams. Listing Node.js, GraphQL or basic SQL is useful if you have used them. Keep the focus on frontend unless you are applying for full stack roles.
Which testing tools should a frontend resume mention?
Mention what you have actually used: a unit runner like Jest or Vitest, Testing Library for component behaviour, and Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end journeys. Visual regression through Storybook or snapshot tools is a plus. Show the result in a bullet, such as regressions caught before release.
Are these frontend developer resume templates free?
Yes. Every sample on this page downloads free as a PDF (exact design, selectable text) or as an editable Word .docx file, with no account. If you want the AI to fill a template with your own experience and tailor it to a job posting, the free AutoApplyMax plan includes 1 tailored resume a month.
