Full Stack Developer Resume Examples and Free Templates (Word, PDF)

Full stack roles reward people who can take a feature from a rough idea to something customers use, touching the database, the API and the interface along the way. A convincing resume shows that range without reading like a list of every tool you have touched. Pick bullets that follow one feature across layers, name the stack in context and finish with what the feature changed for users or the business. Below you will find a bootcamp graduate at an early-stage company, a product engineer at a Series B startup, and a lead developer who runs a small team inside a nonprofit technology organization.

Every sample on this page is also a free full stack developer resume template: download it as a PDF or an editable Word file, no signup, or open the same template in our builder and let the AI fill it with your own experience.

Full Stack Developer Resume Template (Harvard): Entry level Example

Hana Yoshida-Brooks, Junior Full Stack Developer ATS-friendly

Hana's top bullet follows a single feature through migration, endpoints and UI, which is exactly what full stack employers want proof of. Her veterinary background stays because it explains her product sense and why a clinic software startup hired her. The real-time side project adds authentication and access rules that her day job has not covered yet.

Hana Yoshida-Brooks · Denver, CO · hana.yoshidabrooks@email.example · (303) 555-0132

Summary

Full stack developer in her first engineering job at a seed-stage company, shipping features in Next.js, Node.js and PostgreSQL from schema migration to finished screen. Bootcamp graduate who spent four years as a veterinary technician, so she writes software with busy, non-technical users in mind and checks her work with them before calling it done.

Experience

Junior Full Stack Developer, Pawprint Clinic Software · Denver, CO · Jul 2025 — Present

  • Shipped vaccine reminder settings end to end: a Prisma migration, two Express endpoints and a React settings page clinics now use to schedule reminders.
  • Added server-side search for the patient list with PostgreSQL trigram indexes, replacing a client-side filter that froze for clinics with large records.
  • Sat with front-desk staff at two pilot clinics to watch the check-in flow, then removed three steps and shipped the simpler version the same sprint.

Veterinary Technician, Cherry Creek Animal Hospital · Denver, CO · Jun 2021 — Mar 2025

  • Handled intake, records and client communication in a practice management system daily, learning firsthand where clinic software slowed staff down.
  • Trained new technicians on charting and inventory procedures, writing a short visual guide still used by the front desk.

Projects

Shared grocery list (Next.js, PostgreSQL, WebSockets)

  • Built a real-time shared list app with magic-link login, optimistic updates and row-level access rules, deployed with a seeded demo account for reviewers.

Oluwaseun Adebayo, Full Stack Product Engineer ATS-friendly

Oluwaseun's bullets each span layers: billing from tables to invoice screen, permissions across schema and routes, workers plus progress UI. That pattern proves real full stack ownership rather than two separate skill lists. The rollout review bullet shows product judgment, which startups weigh heavily when hiring engineers who work without detailed specs.

Full Stack Developer Resume Template (Consulting): Senior Example

Marisol Echeverría-Quinn, Lead Full Stack Developer ATS-friendly

Marisol's resume shows leadership through decisions: consolidating services for a small team, shrinking payment compliance scope and building an onboarding path. Those choices reflect mature trade-offs, not trend-chasing. Her civic software role adds accessibility and government compliance, and the early agency job explains her breadth across stacks without taking much space.

How to write each section of a full stack developer resume

Header and demo links

Include your city, email, phone, GitHub and one link to a deployed application. For full stack candidates, a live app with a demo login lets reviewers see the interface and imagine the API behind it, so add a short README describing the architecture and data model.

Keep links current. A broken deploy or a free-tier database that has gone to sleep undermines an otherwise strong page, so check them before every round of applications.

Summary

Lead with years of experience and your two strongest layers, for example React with Node and PostgreSQL, or Vue with Django. Then name the kind of product you build and one area you own deeply, such as billing, permissions, reporting or onboarding flows.

Full stack postings vary widely in balance, so adjust the summary to match whether a role leans toward interface work or toward APIs and data.

Experience

Write some bullets that follow one feature across the database, API and interface, ending with the result for users or the business. This structure proves breadth better than separate frontend and backend bullets that never connect.

Add bullets about the less visible work full stack engineers handle: migrations, background jobs, deployments, monitoring and admin tooling. Mention collaboration with product managers and designers when it shaped what you built or removed.

Skills

Split skills into front end, back end, data, and infrastructure plus testing. List the framework pairs you have shipped together, since employers usually hire for a specific stack such as Next.js with Node or React with Rails.

Resist listing every library you have touched. A tight list that matches your bullets is more believable, and interviews often include building a small feature across layers in limited time.

Education and training

Full stack developers come from computer science degrees, bootcamps and self-teaching. If you are early in your career, add a projects section with one complete application rather than several half-finished ones.

Certifications are optional. A cloud developer credential can help if you deploy and operate your own features, but a working app with tests and a clear README usually carries more weight.

Full Stack Developer resume summary examples

Entry-level objective: Bootcamp-trained full stack developer seeking a junior role at a small product company where engineers talk to users. Brings a year shipping Next.js, Node.js and PostgreSQL features end to end and four years of front-line experience in the industry the software serves.

It connects the career change to a real advantage and names the stack a startup would screen for.

New-grad summary: Computer science graduate who built and deployed a course-planning app with a Django API, a Vue front end and a PostgreSQL database during a capstone. Internship experience adding API endpoints and UI screens for an internal tool, with tests and code reviews on every change.

One project followed across layers proves full stack ability better than separate skill lists.

Mid-level summary: Full stack product engineer with five years in TypeScript, owning SaaS features from customer conversations to production metrics. Has built billing, permissions and reporting across React, NestJS, GraphQL and PostgreSQL, and enjoys the background jobs and migrations that keep products dependable.

Names the hard product areas owned, which signals readiness for ambiguous startup work.

Senior summary: Lead full stack developer with 13 years across Rails, React and AWS, leading a six-person team building donation and grants software. Makes architecture calls that fit a small team, hires and mentors developers, and still ships production features every sprint.

Balances leadership with hands-on credibility, the mix lead full stack postings ask for.

Full Stack Developer resume bullet examples: weak vs strong

The strong versions use made-up figures for a fictional candidate. Replace them with your own real numbers, or describe the scope (team size, volume, frequency) if you have none.

End-to-end feature
WeakWorked on frontend and backend features.
StrongShipped vaccine reminder settings end to end: a Prisma migration, two Express endpoints and a React page clinics now use daily.

Walking through every layer of one feature is the clearest proof of full stack ability.

Payments
WeakIntegrated Stripe payments.
StrongBuilt usage-based billing from metering tables to invoice preview screen, letting sales offer seat-based plans without engineering involvement.

Shows the business outcome and the layers involved, not just a vendor name.

Permissions
WeakImplemented user roles.
StrongDesigned role-based access across the GraphQL schema and React routes so customer admins manage dispatcher and contractor visibility themselves.

Access control spanning API and UI is a classic full stack responsibility worth spelling out.

Background work
WeakFixed slow report exports.
StrongMoved PDF report generation to queue workers with live progress in the UI, ending timeouts for customers exporting a full quarter.

Pairs a backend architecture change with a matching interface improvement.

Search and data
WeakImproved patient search.
StrongReplaced a client-side filter with PostgreSQL trigram search behind a paginated endpoint, so large clinics search records without the page freezing.

Explains why the old approach failed and which layer fixed it.

Architecture judgment
WeakSimplified the architecture.
StrongConsolidated three small services into the Rails monolith, cutting deploy steps and on-call burden for a six-person team without operations staff.

Shows mature trade-offs based on team size rather than following trends.

Accessibility and compliance
WeakMade the portal accessible.
StrongBrought a municipal permit portal to WCAG 2.0 AA and Section 508, testing with screen readers and residents using assistive technology.

Standards plus real-user testing make the claim specific and trustworthy for public sector work.

Team growth
WeakOnboarded new developers.
StrongHired four developers and wrote an onboarding path that gets each new hire shipping a production change in their first week.

A clear onboarding outcome shows leadership impact beyond personal output.

US vs Canada: full stack developer resumes and pay

United States

In the US, full stack developer and full stack engineer are unregulated titles, so use the wording in each posting. Startups hiring full stack engineers often offer equity, and some roles are contract positions paid on a 1099 or W-2 basis. If you build for government clients, Section 508 accessibility and background checks may apply, and payment features bring PCI DSS expectations. Link a deployed app, keep the resume to one page early in your career and two at most later, and omit photos and personal details.

Canada

In Canada, engineer is a regulated title in most provinces, so full stack developer is the safer headline unless you are licensed. Products handling personal information fall under PIPEDA, and Quebec's Law 25 adds stricter privacy obligations that affect how you design data storage and consent flows. Apps serving Quebec users need French interfaces under the Charter of the French Language. Co-op terms and bootcamps are both well recognized by Canadian employers. Mention your work permit status if relevant.

FAQ

What is the best resume template for a full stack developer?

For online applications, use a single-column template that applicant tracking systems read top to bottom. The full stack developer samples on this page come in four of them: Harvard (shown with the entry-level resume, education can sit first), Modern (mid-level, experience first, a safe default for most employers), Consulting (senior, achievements in bold stand out to the recruiter) and European (fits a long career on one page). Compact and Creative use two columns: they read well to a person, but some older ATS parse them out of order, so keep them for referrals and emails to a hiring manager.

Should a full stack developer resume be one page?

Usually, yes. In the US, one page is the norm for a full stack developer with less than about 10 years of experience, and all six samples on this page fit on one page. A senior full stack developer with a long, relevant track record can use two pages, as long as page one carries the most recent and relevant roles. Canadian employers accept two pages more readily than US ones.

Do full stack developers need to be equally strong in frontend and backend?

Rarely. Most full stack developers lean toward one side while being productive on the other. Be honest in your summary about where you are strongest, then show bullets proving you can ship a complete feature across layers. Hiring managers value candidates who know their strengths.

How do I show full stack experience if my job title says frontend?

Describe the backend work you did inside your bullets, such as writing API endpoints, migrations or background jobs, and mention the stack. Add a project that covers the layers your job did not. In your summary, describe yourself as a frontend-leaning full stack developer if that is accurate.

Which stack should I put first on a full stack resume?

Put the stack that matches the posting first, as long as you have shipped with it. Common pairs include React with Node.js, React with Rails, Vue with Django and Angular with .NET. Keep other stacks in a secondary line so they support rather than distract.

Is a bootcamp enough to land a full stack developer job?

It can be, especially at smaller companies and agencies. Bootcamp graduates who get hired usually show one polished, deployed application with authentication, a real database and tests, plus a story about why they switched careers. Previous industry knowledge is a genuine advantage when applying to companies in that field.

Should I include DevOps skills on a full stack resume?

Yes, if you deploy and maintain your own features. Docker, CI pipelines, cloud hosting and error tracking all show you can take work to production without hand-offs. Keep them in a delivery section and support them with a bullet about a deployment or monitoring improvement you made.

Are these full stack developer resume templates free?

Yes. Every sample on this page downloads free as a PDF (exact design, selectable text) or as an editable Word .docx file, with no account. If you want the AI to fill a template with your own experience and tailor it to a job posting, the free AutoApplyMax plan includes 1 tailored resume a month.
